Empowering Tribal girls:

Laxmi Bhoi, 12th Student from a tribal hamlet, head of the 14 girl group of Village Kadelpita, Piplimal Gram Panchayat, Lakhanpur block.

After receiving weekly IFA since 4-5 months at the Anganwadi centre every Saturday laxmi ensures attendance of all the other girls in her village.

She says, “Benefits of IFA consumption (removes weakness and helps in blood formation) much higher compared to some digestion problems because of it”.

Peer pressure to consume weekly IFA is strong. She also advocates the compliance card of Adolescent anaemia control programme.

She says, “The card will help in self monitoring, drawing less interested girls to AWC and build our knowledge base too”
